About Hilary Frew

Hilary Frew has exhibited with the RBS, Society of British Artists, Society of Women Artists, Society and Portrait Sculptors, The Royal Academy, Society of Wild Life Artists - she is a remarkable artist with work in public and private sectors

Mediums :- stone, wood, silver, bronze, steel, cold cast bronze and lead crystal.

Her distinctive and powerful work in stone, wood, silver, bronze, steel, lead crystal and cold cast can be found in many collections around Britain, Europe and the USA. The dimensions, as well as the subject content of her work, relate well to domestic environments, and gardens small and large.

Artist Statement of Hilary Frew

Stone carving is a large part of what I do. I select stone from a Portland quarry and carve it with hand tools to produce figurative work. I like to try to give the hard stone the feeling of the soft roundness that children have, or the strong enfolding arms of others.

Qualifications / Education of Hilary Frew

* The Royal Academy Schools 1957-61. Studied under T B Huxley-Jones, Maurice Lambert, Arnold Machin, Euly Nymptch.
1957-61 Studied Sculpture at Royal Academy Schools
* PGCE (Goldsmith College), ATD (Stockwell College).

1974-75 Obtained Art Teacher’s Diploma (ATD) at Stockwell College
1978-79 Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) at Goldsmiths College
1980-93 Taught Design Technology in a London Comprehensive School
